Jean Paul Gaultier

Hi everyone,

How are you this fine day ?

Seems that a new week has started and I’m actually heading home today 🙂 I’m already looking forward for my next trip !

Part of my little story telling on fashion designers and their extensions in the beauty industry, today I’m back with a quick article on “l’enfant terrible de la mode”, Jean Paul Gaultier.

In 1982, Jean Paul Gaultier launches his fashion label baring its name. And from 2003 to 2010, he activates as a creative director for Hermés ( in case you missed it, my article on Hermés perfumes is here ) .

Working very close with big stars from the music and film industry, Jean Paul Gaultier has established himself as an amazing fashion designer, his biggest fashion hit being the iconic cone-shape corset.

Besides the fashion industry, Jean Paul Gaultier launched also a perfume line in 1993. The first fragrance, Classique, a lovely floral-oriental perfume for the ladies was quite appreciated, leading to a second launch two years later, of a men’s perfume, Le Mâle. Both of them are available at Notino, alongside other amazing perfumes from the designer.

One of the latest perfume from JP Gaultier and my personal favorite is Scandal !

I love everything about this perfume – the bottle, the design, the way it smells.. everything !

It was launched in 2017, but I honestly noticed it not long ago when seing the amazing ad with Vanessa Axente ( and Scandal à Paris, the later version of Scandal, with Irina Shayk). I was even more happy to see that I actually like the perfume for what it is, its scent.

The main accords are of honey, sweet, white floral and a little bit of citrus and patchouli.

It’s design to break the normal routine, to create buzz; it’s something new and modern, but very sophisticated.

“We decided to tell the life of ‘Madame La Ministre.’ She’s a government minister who goes partying at night in Paris’ Pigalle neighborhood and makes her way directly into the office for her day job.”  –  Jose Manuel Albesa, chief brand officer of Puig.

After giving us the torso shape bottles all these years, I feel that this is a big step for the designer and it really was a great success ! It will remain, in my opinion, an iconic perfume that women will wear for years and years after.

Hope you liked my little article and I can’t wait to be back with more !

Kisses,

R.
